The Best Places in Indonesia

Indonesia was the first country we visited on our journey around the world, and it set the bar SO high. The people are some of the friendliest we've ever met. The nature, absolutely jaw-dropping. The food - yum. Although we only explored four islands out of 17,508, Indonesia truly feels like a second home to us, and we cannot wait to go back one day and see more of it.

Kawah Ijen

Hike into the crater in the darkness to see the magical blue flames, and watch the sun rise over the biggest acid lake in the world!

Diamond Beach

It's not a tourist trap - we swear! This is one of the very few places in Bali that actually deserves the hype, and you're guaranteed to be as blown away as we were.

Sembalun

Most famous for it's hike up Mount Rinjani, the quaint and wonderful little town of Sembalun is a must-see on your trip to Lombok.

Mount Bromo

Hands down the highlight of our time in Indonesia and the most breathtaking landscape we have ever seen. If this isn't at the top of your bucket list it should be.

Malang

The colourful village of Kampung Warna Warni Jodipan has an amazing story behind it! This might be one of the most underrated places in Java.

Tumpak Sewu

The most magnificent waterfall ever - if you're heading to East Java, be sure to make this one of your stops! Just bring a spare change of clothes...

Yogyakarta

The cultural capital of Indonesia, Yogyakarta, is home to the Sultan's palace and some very overpriced UNESCO World Heritage sites.

Ubud

Although it's touristy - Ubud is a lot of fun and still feels like it's retained some of Bali's authentic charm - just beware of the monkeys!

Secret Gili Islands

Forget the popular Gili Trawang, Gili Meno and Gili Air and head to the secluded and far more beautiful 'secret' Gili islands.

Savana Nusu

Savana Nusu is one of Bali's authentic hidden gems, and the perfect place to bike around and get a view of Mount Agung!

Kelingking Beach

Fear not - this isn't a tourist trap! There are lots of tourists, yes... but for a very good reason.

Atuh Beach

Another beautiful beach in Indonesia to relax on - just beware of the sharp rocks!

Jakarta

Jakarta is Indonesia's capital city - a hotpot of business and chaos and history. It wasn't our favourite place in the world, but there was still plenty to see and do!

Northern Bali

Although the South may be the most popular - don't go to Bali without exploring the North! There are so many hidden gems to discover.

Train through Java

Travelling by train is the best way to see the island of Java, and it's so much easier to do than you may think. Choooo chooo!

Kuta, Lombok

Not to be confused with Kuta beach in Bali, Kuta Lombok has some of the funkiest sand we've ever seen!

Amed

The most quaint and underrated little beach town, definitely add Amed to your Bali bucket list!
