Kuta, Lombok
Not to be confused with Kuta beach in Bali, Kuta Lombok has some of the funkiest sand we've ever seen!
It's like Kuta Bali's younger, hotter cousin! Kuta Lombok is arguably the most popular place in Lombok. The area is brimming with tourists, and new developments are cropping up all over the place like weeds. We didn't hate Kuta Lombok, the town has a nice vibe with lots going on, but we didn't love it either.
The beach was nice and the water warm, but at high tide, it's very difficult to swim due to it being too shallow. For what feels like half a mile, the water stays at just above knee height. After an unsuccessful swim, we gave up and tried to relax on the beach, but again, this wasn't the most successful of missions. We respect the hustle of the beach vendors and salesmen, but when children get involved, and the interruptions are every 5 minutes, it doesn't make for a fun time.
The town of Kuta itself is lovely, and there are many hidden gems, but it's also small. There's a limited number of things to do, and you can explore the entire town within a single afternoon.
So, is Kuta Lombok worth a visit? Sure. If you have the time, it's a good place to visit for a day or two, but don't expect it to be the most wonderful beach you've ever visited or you'll be disappointed.
